2018/3/22 A Day Off in Madrid 馬德里輕鬆一天

There’s no game today. After the frustrated game result yesterday, coach decided to have a day off without practice and took girls to Madrid for short city tour. 今天沒有比賽。經過昨天的挫敗之後，教練決定讓球員休息一天不練球，來個馬德里半日遊。 We didn’t go with teams since Tiffany had 11:00 appointment with doctor for her wounds. Doctor examined the wounds, put ointment on the wounds and wrapped it. Tiffany was asked to keep the ointment and wrap on her elbow for the following 24 hours, and back for another treatment after practice tomorrow. Doctor’s attitudes made me feel a little comfort. After the treatment, we decided to go to Madrid by train to join the teams. 因為Tiffany跟大會醫生約了11:00，所以不能跟其他人一起去馬德里。醫生檢查了她的傷口也做了清洗，給她的傷口上了藥膏，包紮起來，交代她24小時不要把包紮拿掉，第二天練完球再來看一次。醫生的態度讓我稍稍放心。治療完傷口後，我們決定要搭火車去馬德里去跟球隊會合。

We arrived in Madrid at Sol by C Train. And found the teams are having lunch nearby. We joined coaches in a Tapas for Paella. After lunch, we realized most of the players are having burgers in Burger King! What a waste, having Burger King as lunch in Spain! We took part of the crew to Torrons Vicens, the specialist for Artisan Nougats since 1775 for gift shopping. We walked around the streets to enjoy the architectures, and found a café to sit down for a drink. We didn’t really see the city since we felt Tiffany needs some rest, and she slept for an hour in the café. 我們搭火車直達太陽門廣場，發現大家都在附近吃午餐。我們跟教練一起在一家小館子吃了西班牙海鮮飯。跟大家會合後，發現很多球員居然在漢堡王吃午餐！唉，居然在西班牙吃漢堡王，真是浪費！帶了部分球員去Torrons Vicens，一家1775年就開始營業賣手工牛軋糖的店買了有名的杜隆糖作禮物。我們在馬德里市中心散了一會歩，欣賞了當地的建築物，就找了一家咖啡廳坐下來喝飲料。因為Tiffany需要休息，我們並沒有參觀太多馬德里市區景點，事實上她趴在咖啡廳桌上睡了一個多小時。

After the relax and mental adjustment, wish they will have better performance in the game against Iceland tomorrow. 希望經過今天的休息和心情調整，明天對冰島的比賽她們能好好表現！

2018/3/21 Continuous Winning Stopped in the Game Against Home Team, Spain! 殘念！連勝止於與地主對西班牙之戰!

The game against the home team, Spain did give us a lesson! Team Spain skated much faster than their games against other teams. And they obviously studied and reviewed our previous games and understood our set up well. They were also bigger and more experience than our players. It was a good lesson to our players to know our weakness and parts to be improved. 輸給地主國西班牙隊給我們上了一課。西班牙隊在這場比賽中比她們其他比賽速度快很多！很明顯的他們觀察了中華隊其他比賽的表現，對我們的戰術隊形有所了解。比起來她們的球員有身材優勢，也比我們多了國際賽的經驗。這一課對我們的球員來說，點出了我們的弱點和須加強的部分。 It was the first time our players experienced the pressure from playing against home team. Local hockey fans yelled, made noise, and laughed at our players throughout the game. We parents by the side of the rink also sensed the unfriendliness from local fans. We played more panic than previous games, could not pass the puck properly to the right position and could not cut in and shot the pucks. Final results of the game was 6 vs 1, we were badly beaten by home team. TTL shots on goal of Chinese Taipei was 19, and 38 from Team Spain. I would have to say Tiffany has not lost so much goals in one game for long time. She played ok, did most of what she could, but not magically! 我已 中華隊球員頭一次承受跟地主國比賽的壓力。本地的球迷整場比賽不停對我們的球員叫囂，嘲笑，製造噪音。隨行家長在場邊也感受到觀眾的不友善。我們打得比之前幾場更慌亂，跑不到位，傳不到點，無法射門。最終比分6比1，我們被地主隊慘電！整場比賽我們射門數19球，西班牙38球。Tiffany已經有很久沒有在一場比賽失這麼多分了。她打得還好，基本上做了該做的事，只是不夠神！ MVP of the game was #15 Ting-Yu Hsu. 單場MPV是15號許庭毓。 Tiffany’s elbow touched a wok slightly in Barcelona, and the burn got worse and became a concern after days of practice and games. She could not use steroid drugs and some anti-bio medicine since it is prohibited during the tournament. Team protective officer had to clean her wound, remove her skin and part of tissues everyday to prevent the cellulitis. After the game against Spain, her wounds looked terrible and we had no choice to call the doctor of the tournament coming to the hotel at midnight to check on her. Coaches and I sent the photos of her wound back to Taiwan for the opinions from different doctors. I felt so worried. I knew she would not give up playing for the wounds. But the wounds will more or less impact her mood during the game. Tiffany在巴塞隆納時手肘不小心稍微靠到鐵鍋，小小的傷口經過幾天練習比賽後惡化了。因為是在比賽期間所以不能使用類固醇類藥物及部分抗生素。防護員姐姐必須每天清瘡，把她發炎的皮膚和組織刷掉以避免蜂窩性組織炎。跟西班牙比完賽後，她的傷口越來越嚴重，手肘紅腫發熱。我們只得在午夜把大會的醫生請來旅館處理。教練和我也把她傷口的照片傳回台灣請教不同醫師的意見。我實在擔心，以她的脾氣是不可能不打。傷口多少會影響比賽的情緒！ Game results of the day :　今天比賽結果 Turkey – New Zeland : 11 vs 4 won by NZL. Romania – Iceland : 12 vs 1 won by ISL. Chinese Taipei – Spain : 6 vs 1 won by ESP. No time to check on the round robin, busy to spend time on Tiffany’s wound. But I was pretty sure, Chinese Taipei lost the title of gold medal. 因為忙著擔心Tiffany的傷，沒上官方網站查詢排名。不過確定的是我們已與冠軍無緣！

2018/3/20 3rd Win Against New Zeland, Getting Better! 第三場勝紐西蘭，越打越好!

No game on 3/19, which means relax and shopping! Girls went to the outlet 7 min driving from the hotel. Price of goods in Europe is actually not cheap. Most of the girls didn’t spend on cloth and sports goods. But they cleared the shelf of the Tortas De Aceite (Spanish crackers) in the super market. 3/19沒有比賽，休息和採購日！我們去了離旅館七分鐘車程的暢貨中心。歐洲的物價其實不低，大部分球員都沒有買衣服或運動用品。不過女孩們把超市裡賣Tortas De Aceite (西班牙橄欖油脆餅)的貨價都清空了！ Team Chinese Taipei had the 3rd game against New Zeland today. The players and parents of Team New Zeland are most friendly to us. We shook hands and said good luck to each others prior and after the game. I gave our hair bands to the parents of New Zeland players and they gave me pins and Kiwi Chocolate as return. 中華隊第三場隊上紐西蘭隊。紐西蘭隊的球員和家長大概是這次所有國家隊裡對我們最友善的。賽前賽後我們和紐西蘭的家長握手互祝好運。我送了髮帶給紐西蘭隊的家長做禮物，他們回贈胸針和紐西蘭巧克力。

Team Chinese Taipei played much better today, especially the set up and power play. Most of the players played smarter compared with pervious 2 games. Final results of the game was 5 vs 2, won by Chinese Taipei. Game MVP is #6 Linda Liu. Tiffany got 31 shots on goal from opponent, save average of the game as 93.55%. Her save average as of today is 94.12%, ranked as #2 currently. 中華隊今天打得好多了，特別在進攻隊型和對方犯規多打少時。大部分球員比前兩場打得聰明得多。比賽結束比分為5比2，中華隊勝出！單場MPV是6號劉芷菱。Tiffany被射了31球，單場防守率為93.55%。打完三場她的防守率為94.12%，目前排名第二。

The game against Spain tomorrow will be the most important game. The winning team will be the champion since Team Iceland had an OTW against NZL. Go for the winning girls! 明天對西班牙是最重要的比賽。因為冰島跟紐西蘭打到延長賽，所以明天勝出的隊就是冠軍了！加油寶貝們！

2018/3/18 2nd Win Against Romania 第二場勝羅馬尼亞

It was another exciting day in Spain! Girls left hotel at 6:45 for early practice. Opponent of today, Team Romania didn’t show up for morning practice. We were guessing if the reason for other teams not precious the ice practice as we do due to the cost of ice? Girls just had the sandwich and apple as early lunch since the game started at 13:00. 又是在西班牙熱血的一天！我們的寶貝一早6:45就去冰宮練球了，今天的對手羅馬尼亞隊也跟土耳其一樣沒有來練球，我們在猜是不是因為其他國家的冰場租金比我們便宜，所以他們不珍惜練球機會？因為今天中華隊賽程安排在下午一點，球員就吃了一點三明治和蘋果墊肚子。 The secretary from Chinese Taipei Economics & Trade Office came to watch the game with families today. There’s another super fan, a friend of our player, flew all the way from Taipei, stayed in Madrid and came to the rink by one hour transportation in train and bus every day. The fan took a big national flag to the rink and we were so proud to waive the flag when our team scored! 經貿辦事處的秘書今天帶了全家一起來加油！中華隊還有一位超級粉絲，球員的朋友從台北飛來，住在馬德里，每天搭一小時的火車和公車來冰宮加油！這位超級粉絲帶來了一面大國旗，能在中華隊得分時揮舞國旗真是太令人激動了！

Team Chinese Taipei is definitely a stronger team than Team Romania. But our girls still didn’t play as well as they should be. The scores in the ends of 1st period is 5 vs 2, and 8 vs 3 in the ends of 2nd period. Randy Wang played as starting goalie today. She actually strained her lag yesterday, and had to step down for unbearable pain in the 3rd period. Tiffany was put on ice not ready and lost 1 goal she should be able to stop. The game ends at 9 vs 4, won by Team Chinese Taipei. #12 Sydney Pan was the game MVP with 1 goal and 2 assists. The team has to improve and play smart since the opponents of following 3 games are stronger. 中華隊很明顯是比羅馬尼亞強的球隊。可是她們今天還是沒有打出該有的水準。第一節結束時比分為5比2，第二節為8比3。今天的先發守門是韻慈，事實上她昨天就拉傷了腿、在第三節時就因為疼痛難耐只好退場。Tiffany完全沒有準備好就上場打球，失了一分她應該守得住的球。比賽最終比分為9比4，中華隊第二場勝。單場最佳球員為12號潘忻妮，一個得分兩個助攻。中華隊該加油恢復正常水準了，接下來三場的對手都很強，都會是硬仗。

We had the great treatment from a local overseas Taiwanese leader, rice, stir fried vegetable, pork and eggs. Girls thought they were treated even better than in Taiwan. Chinese Taipei Economic & Trade Office brought more fruits and organic eggs. We really appreciated the warm reception from them. 西班牙客家會會長熱情款待我們，送來了米飯，炒青菜，好吃的肉和蛋。經貿辦事處送來了更多的水果和採用有機蛋製作的茶葉蛋。衷心感謝他們對這些球員的照顧和款待。

2018/3/17 First game against Turkey 對土耳其首勝

Today is the first day of the tournament. Chinese Taipei played the first game against Turkey in the afternoon. Team Turkey arrived in Spain on 3/16 afternoon and didn’t show up for morning practice today. Looked like Team Turkey believed they can beat us easily since we are the new team just been promoted. 今天賽程正式開始。中華隊的第一場比賽是下午對戰土耳其。土耳其隊3/16下午才到西班牙，今早根本沒來練球。看來因為我們去年才剛升級，土耳其隊根本沒有把中華隊放在眼裡。

Most of our girls were nervous about the game. Some of them are the rookie in senior women’s team. We did watch the games of 2017 IIHF WC Div II Group B on YouTube, and found Team Turkey improved their skills and speed during the year. They are actually very fast. 2 of their players have been drafted to CWHL for tryout this year. Tiffany played as starting in the 1st period and stepped down from ice about 5 min prior to the end of 2nd period. She played well, with 16 shots on goal and 100% save percentage. Final scores was 6 vs 2, Chinese Taipei won. Game MPV of Team Chinese Taipei is #18 Christine Yeh who scored all of 6 goals in the game, 4 with assisted by line mates. The sportsmanship of Team Turkey is very similar with its men’s team, many petty actions in the game. Some of our players been hacked, slam. knocked down, and slashed. I have never seen so much actions in women’s game. And surprisingly, not so many penalties called. 大部分球員都很緊張，特別是今年頭一次打女子成人隊的新球員。我們在YouTube上看過去年二級B組的比賽，土耳其隊今年進步很多、速度快很多，甚至有兩名球員今年被加拿大女子職業聯盟關注。Tiffany 這場先發，打到第二節結束前五分鐘換韻慈接手。Tiffany打得不錯，守了16球，防守率100%。最終比分為6比2，中華隊首勝！單場最佳球員當然是18號葉慧貞，6分是她獨得，其中4分隊友許庭毓，謝知辰，鄧宇婷助攻。土耳其女子隊球風和她們男子隊一樣，非常多小動作。我們球員在比賽中被砍、被推倒、被撞。我從未看過一場女子比賽有那麼多全武行的。奇特的是沒有很多判罰！

Due to lack of experience playing in international games (4 games per year since Y2015), our girls are panic in the games. I believe they should be better if they can be more patient and calm in the games. 由於缺乏國際賽經驗 (2015年以來每年只打四場國際賽)，我們的球員比賽時打得很慌亂。我認為只要她們沉住氣，不要緊張，可以打得更好。 The ambassador and officers from Chinese Taipei Economic & Trade Office came to watch the game with national flags, lot of fruits and food. All of them have never watched hockey game before, and they all surprised about the skill level and aggressive attitudes of our girls. They are offering bendo of Chinese food as our dinner tomorrow. Although there are only 4 parents coming to Spain with players, but we have the strongest supporting groups from the parents and friends in Taipei and the officers of Economic & Trade office. 中華台北經貿辦事處的長官今天來幫中華隊加油，帶來了國旗，水果和很多食物。所有長官及夫人都是頭一次看冰球賽，他們對我們球員的技術和積極的態度讚不絕口，說簡直太熱血了！明天辦事處及僑胞將提供中式的便當給我們當晚餐。雖然這次我們只有四名家長隨行，但有遠在台北的家長朋友及經貿辦事處的長官加油，我們應援團的陣容非常龐大！

2018/3/15 Team Arrival and Friendly Match with Iceland 抵達及與冰島友誼賽

Team arrived in Madrid Airport at 7:30AM. The temperature in Madrid is slightly lower than in Taipei. Some of the girls complained the cold but I believed it should be ok since they will stay in the rink and hotel most of the time. 球隊在早上7:30抵達馬德里機場。馬德里氣溫比台北低一些，有球員抱怨太冷，但因為大部分時間不是在冰宮就是在旅館，應該不成問題。 First stop after arrival was Ice Rink Francisco in order to drop off the gears in the lockers room. Girls watched the ice practice of Team Spain for awhile. Newby felt nervous about the different level of strength and intentions with the teams they used to play against. 離開機場的第一站是到冰宮放球具。球員看了一下地主西班牙隊的練球，看得出來某些剛進國家隊體系的球員開始緊張，對手的力量強度及企圖心都跟他們之前碰到的隊大不相同。 Girls took a nap after lunch prior to the friendly match with Iceland. It was obviously not enough to recover from long travel with just a nap. The game started at 4:00PM after the friendly match between Spain and New Zeland (result as 3 vs 0, won by Spain). In my opinions, our girls played too panic and made some not so good judgements during the game. It should due to the jetlag and 15 hours long flight. Actually, most of the girls looked very tired and lost their speed advantage in the 3rd period. We won with 1 vs 0 till the end of 2nd period, and lost the game with the result of 3 vs 1. It was probably the roughest game our girls every played. Vikings are tall and big, and Team Iceland actually hired an ex USA Women’s National Team player as a coach and all of them arrived in Spain for practice 3 days ago. But I still have to say, we really have good chance to win the game after fully rest from long flight and jetlag adjustment. #12 Sydney Pan scored for Chinese Taipei during the friendly match. All girls had their time to play in the game. The expense for hiring a bus back and forth from hotel to ice rink is 450 Euro, very expensive compared with 650 Euro, the expense for me to rent a mini-van for 10 days from Madrid airport. Girls were envy to see a bus to pick up Team Iceland after the game and our girls have to take taxi as transportation before the tournament officially starts. 在與冰島友誼賽前球員用餐小睡了一下。不過看樣子小睡還不足以讓她們從長途飛行的疲勞中恢復。友誼賽在下午4:00開始, 緊接著西班牙隊及紐西蘭隊的友誼賽 (比賽結果3比0, 地主隊勝)。在我看來，我們打得太慌亂，做了一些錯誤判斷。我想大部分應該是時差及15小時長途飛行的影響。我們在第三節幾乎完全失去速度優勢。在第二節結束前我們還是1比0領先，結束時比分為3比1敗給冰島。這大概是大部分球員打過強度最大，肢體接觸最多的比賽。冰島的球員個子都很高大，她們請了一位美國女子國家代表隊前國手來當教練，也在三天前就已經到西班牙練球適應場地了。但我們(球員及隨行家長)都認為只要好好休息調時差，我們贏的機率不小。12號潘昕妮得了我們唯一的一分，所有的球員在友誼賽都有上場機會。雇一輛遊覽車往返冰宮的費用為450歐元，與我在馬德里機場租七人座小巴10天的費用650歐元相比真是貴。球員很羨慕地看著冰島隊球員比完賽搭著遊覽車離去，在正式比賽開始前我們只能搭計程車往返(單趟11歐元)。 Team Chinese Taipei stay in the same hotel with team Turkey and team Romania which have not showed up prior to the arriving date (3/16). Other three teams, Spain, Iceland and New Zeland stay in another hotel. 中華台北和土耳其隊及羅馬尼亞對住在同一個旅館，一直到3/16中午過後其他兩隊都還未出現。地主隊西班牙則和冰島隊及紐西蘭隊住在另一個旅館。 Went to super market for grocery shopping in the evening. Girls were so discipline, all they purchased were milk, juice, fruits, sports drink and personal utilities. 晚飯後去超市採買雜貨。這些女生真的都很乖很自制，他們買的就是牛奶、果汁、水果、運動飲料和個人用品。家裡大人不必擔心了! Too bad there’s something wrong with the camera in my cell yesterday. Could not provide any photo. 很抱歉3/15我的手機鏡頭出了狀況，未能提供照片。

20180313 New Adventure Starts

It has been more than 7 years since my last post on my blog, Hockey Mom. Couples of reasons including below : 1. I was too busy at work 2. My son finished his duty as a player in Chinese Taipei National Team 3. Most of my daughter’s hockey life was in Canada and USA 4. Previous hosting location for the tournaments my daughter played in the past years were hosted by my hometown, Taipei 5. The last and the mostly true is my laziness I have no excuse now since I was resigned from my job and the tournament of IIHF Women’s D2 B is going to start in Spain next week. I will start posting and recording the hockey activities as a hokey mom who likes to travel around with kids for hockey activities. 我上次PO文已是七年前的事了。原因包含 : 1. 我工作太忙 2. 我家哥哥已經不打國家隊了 3. 我家妹妹大部分都在加拿大美國打球 4. 過去妹妹打的國際比賽都是台北主辦 5. 最後的事實是我太懶散了 可是因為我已離開工作崗位，世界盃二級B組的賽事下周將在西班牙開打，我好像沒有藉口再懶散了。身為喜歡跟著孩子征戰的冰球媽，我會繼續開始記錄孩子們的曲棍球活動。 Something has to be addressed about the development of TW women’s hockey in past years. Chinese Taipei women’s hockey team was first organized in Y2014. The team won 2 times WCCOA (Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia) and IIHF Div II B Qualification. It is a young team with average age about 19. Actually, 6 of the players on Y2018 roster also play in Chinese Taipei U18 National Team. As living in a subtropical country with limited resource, these girls work so hard and sacrifice their time when their friends are doing girly things. With the support from association and parents, they shared the ice with boys and had 2 to 3 ice practices and physical training every week. All because of their love to hockey. Wish their efforts paid off. 關於過去幾年台灣女子冰球發展確實值得一提。中華台北女子冰球對於2014年成軍以來，連拿了兩屆亞洲女子冰球挑戰賽及世界杯二級B組的冠軍。整隊平均年齡為19歲。事實上，有六名球員還同時是中華台北女子U18冰球隊的球員。生活在亞熱帶的台灣，資源有限。這些女孩放棄跟友人從事較為女性的活動，努力訓練。女孩們在協會及家長的支持下，跟年紀較小的男子球員共用冰面，每週練兩到三次球及體能，都是為了熱愛冰球。我衷心希望她們的努力有所收穫。 We (my husband, daughter and I) arrived in Barcelona 4 days prior to team arrival for family trip, and will meet the team in Madrid airport on the morning of 3/15. 我和我家爸爸，妹妹比球隊早四天抵達巴塞隆納做家庭旅遊，3/15早上會到馬德里機場與球隊會合。
